The Mars Area School District is continuing to make an effort to secure enough substitute teachers.
By unanimous vote at their Tuesday meeting, the school board approved a motion that would increase pay for substitutes from $90 to $110 per day.
Retired Mars teachers working as day-to-day substitutes will now be paid a rate of $120 per day up from $90 previously.
Retroactive to January 1st, any substitute who works 30 days for Mars in the current school year will have a rate increase to $120 per day for the rest of the year.
