With the arrival of the Omicron variant, COVID cases are surging but that hasn’t had an impact on the stock market.
Local financial advisor Howie Pentony says that despite a number of growing issues, the markets are coming off of a strong 2021.
“The S&P, the index itself, was up 26.9 percent in 2021,” Pentony said. “That’s a rip-roaring move.”
Pentony says other things like mid-term elections could come into play in 2022, but overall the markets traditionally aren’t impacted by external factors.
“The markets do what they do, and we get out of the way because we can’t stop it or do anything about it.”
Pentony is the president and founder of Pentony Capital Management in Portersville.
