Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett announced Thursday that he will not play in the Peach Bowl later this month, and will focus on his future in the NFL. The Heisman Trophy finalist is projected to be a first-round draft pick next spring. Pitt will meet Michigan State December 30th. Brian Pattie will now be the starting quarterback for the Panthers.
Michigan State will also be without All-American running back Kenneth Walker, who has decided to skip the game and his senior season and enter the NFL draft. Walker rushed for 1,636 yards and 19 touchdowns during the regular season.
The first two of 44 bowls scheduled in the next three-and-a-half weeks will kick-off today with the Bahamas Bowl at Noon. Toledo faces Middle Tennessee.
–The Cure Bowl has a 6pm kick-off featuring Northern Illinois and Coastal Carolina.
Seven bowl games will be played Saturday.
