Thinking about giving the gift of food for the holidays? Penn State Ag leaders are offering a few tips to make sure you’re not giving foodborne illnesses instead.
They say to stick with items that are shelf-stable, like breads and cookies. They also to make sure you follow recipes, especially when it comes to canning foods because some items like soup require pressure canning.
Ag officials also say if you receive food for the holidays, ask the sender if the item requires any refrigeration or freezing.
