The Florida Panthers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 in overtime last night. The Pens gave up a two-goal lead in the third period as the Panthers came from behind to take the game to overtime. Jake Guentzel returned to the ice and scored his first goal of the season. The Penguins had 47 shots in the game including 20 in the third period. They were 2-of-9 on power plays in the game and held Florida 0-for-6. Casey DeSmith stopped 34 of 39 shots in net for the Penguins.
The Pens open their home schedule tomorrow night against the Marc-Andre Fleury-led Chicago Blackhawks. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:30pm.
