Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official has announced that a popular food delivery platform will provide better transparency to consumers about hidden fees and the real prices of food.
Last month Attorney General Josh Shapiro was joined by the Attorney General for the District of Columbia to detail an agreement reached with Uber Eats about in-App disclosures regarding pricing.
The new disclosure about the higher price of the food on the app as opposed to in the restaurant comes at the part of the process when customers are reviewing the total cost of the order and immediately before placing the order. These higher prices are in addition to the delivery app fees and the commissions that restaurants pay to delivery services. Customers can better support local restaurants by picking up food directly from the restaurant.
Shapiro encouraged all other food delivery companies to provide this same information to their customers as soon as possible.
