Negotiations between the South Butler School District and its teachers union remain ongoing after another negotiation session this week.
District Solicitor Tom Breth was joined by four South Butler School Board members at the administration building for about an hour Tuesday.
“We’re just trying to get closer on some issues and trying to get some momentum going,” Breth said. “So much of this is economics so there are a lot of moving parts to this puzzle.”
On the other side, Pennsylvania State Education Association Representative Brooke Witt was joined by six teachers on the union’s negotiation team. According to Witt, Tuesday night’s discussions did not result in progress but dates are now being considered for future negotiations.
“There’s been a long culture in South Butler of difficult negotiations,” Witt said. “We are now entering our third school year without a contract and the district’s actions have not been conducive to reaching a settlement up to this point.”
South Butler teachers have been without a contract since June 30, 2014.
