Gas prices in western Pennsylvania are continuing to climb as the majority of the state is in the green phase of coronavirus recovery and many residents consider vacation trips.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, is $2.44 per gallon which is an increase of 18 cents compared to last month.
Prices rose by nine cents across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week, to bring the regional average price also to $2.44 per gallon. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $2.18 per gallon, while the most expensive is $2.30 in Sharon.
The average national gas price rose by three cents this week to $2.13 which is still 53 cents cheaper per gallon than it was this date last year. Demand for gasoline saw a small decline compared to last week but AAA expects market optimism to result in higher domestic crude prices.
