The current economic climate and employment environment has allowed the Butler Area School District to save money on an upcoming project.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brian White, original estimates for a much discussed plan to switch the location of the Senior High Main Office with the Senior High Library came in at $2.7 to $3.1 million.
Monday night, Butler Area School Board approved a bid of just over $2 million for the project that would involve a general contractor as well as HVAC, electric, and plumbing. The money to pay for this project will come from the district’s capital projects bond issue.
The original planned date of completion was April of 2021 but the district has also been able to realize a new date of completion that would see work completed by September of this year. In addition to making better use of space, this project would improve security.
