Two men were arrested early Sunday morning following a break-in and robbery at a downtown Butler convenience store.
City police responded at 6:30 a.m. to the EZ Stop in the 300 block of North Main Street.
Officers found the front door smashed in, and spotted a car with two occupants fleeing the scene. Police began a pursuit, which ended a short time later when the fleeing vehicle reached a dead end on West Fulton Street.
The two men inside then jumped out and took off on foot, but were eventually taken into custody.
36-year old Matthew Cline of North McKean St. in Butler and 30-year old Trevor Walker of West North Avenue in Butler are both facing numerous felony charges including burglary, theft, and conspiracy.
Police recovered a large unopened safe containing over $6,000 in cash in the back seat of their vehicle. Damage to a cash register and lottery machine at the EZ Stop was estimated at over $5,000.
