Butler Township is temporarily postponing the collection of glass to be recycled that was to take place at the municipal building.
Manager Tom Knights on the latest developments to allow Butler Township residents to recycle glass.
“The company that we partnered with to do the glass recycling is now listed as a non-essential business so they’re not operating right now,” Knights said. “The April 18th kickoff we anticipated for the glass recycling program has been postponed. We don’t have a new date, but I can say one will be scheduled as soon non-essential businesses are cleared to resume service.”
After all businesses are allowed to reopen, the township will collect glass bottles or jars of any color in a bin at the Township Municipal Building. The Natrona Heights company will then collect, transport, and recycle the glass at no cost to the Township.
If this program is successful, it could result in expansion to other municipalities in Butler County that currently do not permit recycling of glass.
In the meantime, do not take glass to the Butler Township building.
