The South Butler County School Board is moving forward with an agreement to lease new computers for older students this fall.
One of the items approved during the board’s virtual meeting Wednesday night was a motion authorizing the lease of 1,700 Chromebooks from IntegraOne at a cost of just over $358,000.
A financing agreement with First National Bank for the computers was also approved after three different lending institutions were considered. This deal will allow for the replacement of items on an expiring lease for students in grades 6 through 12.
The timeline to receive the Chromebooks is undetermined at this time due to many other districts scrambling for technology to enable remote learning but finalizing this agreement now should allow for the computers to be in place by the start of the 2020-21 school year.
