A grant program is now available for local volunteer fire departments and small communities to help deal with brush fires.
Senator Joe Pittman said in a press release that the grant program provides up to $10,000 for training and the purchase of equipment directly related to fighting brush and forest fires.
Volunteer Fire Assistance grant applications are submitted through the state’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
