The U.S. Department of Justice is appointing a COVID-19 Fraud Coordinator to investigate potential fraud schemes in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
Assistant U.S. Attorney and Senior Litigation Council Shaun Sweeney has been named to the new position and will oversee the prosecution of fraud resulting from virus scammers.
U.S. Attorney General William Barr has directed the entire Department of Justice to remain vigilant in taking action against those seeking to profit from public panic.
The U/S. Attorney’s Office’s website now includes a button on the main page where visitors can quickly report fraud to the DOJ or FBI.
