Republican Tim Bonner is the winner of the special election in the 8th House District.
Bonner defeated Democrat Phil Heasley by collecting over 75 percent of the vote in the district that spans parts of Butler and Mercer Counties.
Voter turnout was just over 11 percent in the 15 precincts in Butler County.
Bonner will now serve the rest of 2020 as the 8th District’s state representative, but since this was a special election, he will now face a contested primary in late April.
