A Lancaster Township man has died following an accident Monday night in Jackson Township.
According to Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer, emergency responders were dispatched shortly before 8 p.m. Monday to Route 19 between Little Creek Road and Mercer Road.
A vehicle driven by 67-year-old Michael Slavin collided with a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Shana Weiss from Sewickley in Allegheny County. Both motorists needed to be extricated from their vehicles.
Slavin was transported by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital where he later died as a result of cardiac arrest. Weiss was flown by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian where she is currently in critical condition.
This incident remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Crash Reconstruction unit but it appears as though Slavin’s vehicle crossed the center line and hit Weiss head-on.
