Butler City Police and Fire Departments have each received recent grants and donations that will help them to do their jobs better.
Butler City Police Chief Bob O’Neill announced that his department received $830 from the Butler Lions Club for personal safety kits for each officer. The organization Protection 4 Paws donated two temperature control systems for the K9 vehicles at a value of nearly $4,000. The CB Rangers donated several new and refurbished Detour signs with a total value of nearly $2,000.
Butler City Joint Fire Chief Chris Switala informed Council that his department received a Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service grant of over $14,000 from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. This money will be used to upgrade air quality meters as well as purchase new personal protective equipment like special particle blocking hoods for all city firefighters.
Both departments will split a $15,000 grant from Firehouse Subs for the purchase of new Automated External Defibrillators.
