The coronavirus outbreak in China is having an impact on a Butler County manufacturer.
II-VI is an electronic component maker based in Saxonburg.
The company has a 24,000-person workforce in China, and nearly half of them are in areas affected by the coronavirus.
CEO Vincent Mattera spoke with shareholders on a conference call earlier this week.
“We are committed to protecting the health and safety of all of our employees, while delivering for our customers,” he said. “I am proud of our worldwide leaders who have collaborated from the outset to provide a business continuity and emergency management plan, and who are carefully tending to the needs of our employees.”
II-VI is also avoiding all nonessential travel to China.
Officials also expect there to be financial ramifications, although specifics weren’t revealed.
