There was only one arrest during Donald Trump’s visit to Pittsburgh on Thursday and it was of a Butler County man.
Michael Badges-Canning, 63, of Cherry Valley was arrested after he went through a revolving door at the Duquesne Club, where Trump stopped at a fundraiser, and allegedly prevented its movement, trapping civilians who were not protesters.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said Badges-Canning refused demands to move or come out of the door. Police freed him and then arrested him on charges of defiant trespass, disorderedly conduct and resisting arrest. No one was hurt.
According to our news partners at WPXI-TV, protesters marched, staged a sit-in and tried to rush the Duquesne Club during Donald Trump’s visit but there were “no major incidents.”
The GOP presidential candidate spoke at the Shale Insights convention at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, where public safety officials said “a group of protesters remained peaceful at 10th and French Streets” before and during his stop there
Badges-Canning ran for Butler County Commissioner last year as a Green Party candidate. He is currently running as the Green Party candidate in the 64th district of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
