Contract negotiations between the South Butler School District and its teachers union remain ongoing.
According to district Solicitor Tom Breth, board representatives last met with union representatives one week ago for several hours. At this meeting, the two sides exchanged informal proposals and then the board submitted a formal proposal to the union. The sides are scheduled to meet again at the end of the month.
Wages and benefits continue to be the major issues of disagreement between the two sides. A fact-finding report was rejected by the union last year.
Breth said school board members discuss possible avenues of compromise weekly.
The South Butler board did approve a 3 percent pay increase for administrators and contracted employees who are not members of the union.
District Superintendent Dr. David Zupsic is not covered under that agreement.
