The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is now accepting bids for 40 expired restaurant licenses including two in Butler County.
This is the first time an auction like this has been held in the state but others could follow if market reaction is strong.
Butler County was one of the areas chosen for the auction based on anticipated high demand. These two licenses are the only expired ones in Butler County that qualify to be auctioned at this time.
The minimum bid is $25,000 with the highest bidder being awarded the right to submit an application for the license to the Board. If the application is not accepted, the second highest bidder will have the chance to submit.
Bids are due Thursday, October 27th. Bids will be opened and winners determined the week of October 31st. For more information, visit lcb.state.pa.us.
