Lester L. ‘Bud’ Moore, Sr. age 82 of Chicora, PA died Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Butler Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born in Chicora, October 2, 1933 the son of Lester A. Moore and Dora E. Emminger Moore.
He was a 1952 graduate from Concord High School in Hooker, PA. and worked at Magnets in East Butler for 39 years until retirement where he was a Powder Core Press Operator. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chicora, PA.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening and being with his family.
He married Mary Alice Burkett Moore on July 26, 1952, who survives.
He is also survived by 3 daughters: Patricia and David Stroup of Chicora, Karen and Joseph Macurak of Karns City, and Cindy and Mark Cumberland of Chicora. 5 sons: William and Cathy Moore of Butler, Ronald and Diana Moore of Chicora, Rodger and Katrina Moore of Chicora, Brian Moore of Chicora, Lester L. Moore, Jr. of Chicora, 30 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. A sister: Evelyn McDevitt of Chicora, 2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Friends will be received, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 6 at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Downtown Chicora, PA
And on Wednesday, 10-11 a.m. at the ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 266 Zion Church Road, Chicora, PA.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, officiated by Reverend Karl Schoch, pastor and Lester’s niece Reverend Kathy McDevitt Davis.
Interment will follow in Zion Church Cemetery, Zion Church Road, Chicora, PA.
