Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole will his scheduled start Monday against the Chicago Cubs to visit an elbow specialist in Los Angeles.
An MRI apparently revealed no ligament damage according to multiple reports. The reports also suggest the Pirates are not concerned about ligament damage, however some think it may be a bone spur.
Steven Brault will make the spot start Monday. Cole had a 2.73 ERA through his first 16 starts of the season, but over his last four starts has a 7.06 ERA.
No corresponding move has been announced to open room for Brault.
