The National Firefighter’s Union has formally announced that they do not agree with the words and actions of Butler’s mayor.
The IAFF took the action on behalf of Local 114 at their convention in Las Vegas last week and posted the censure of Mayor Tom Donaldson on their website.
The language of the resolution says that the mayor’s administration has “attempted to implement civil service rules and regulations that conflict with provisions of the local union’s bargaining agreement.” The resolution also says that Donaldson publicly criticized the fire department and threatened that “total financial collapse” will occur if the department does not cooperate.
The censure will be sent to the Butler County Republican Party, the PA State Mayor’s Association, and the Butler County Labor Council.
Donaldson was one of eight people the IAFF voted to censure and the only mayor.
