State Representative Brian Ellis’ 11th annual Community Night will begin and end an hour later than in years past for a special reason.
“This year, our sponsors were extremely generous and we raised enough money that we’re going to do a fireworks demonstration at the end,” Ellis said. “If you missed out on July 4th fireworks, there’s one more shot for you this summer.”
Rep. Ellis will hold this year’s event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Butler Farm Show Grounds. This free event will include vendors from federal, state, and local agencies, as well as interactive activities for the whole family like a petting zoo, live music, and a hotdog eating contest. Plus, everyone will have a chance to win one of a large number of door prizes.
Those who attend will also be given a chance to give back to the less fortunate in our community.
“We do ask that if you have some extra canned goods or dry goods sitting around the house, bring them,” he said. “We collect every year for the St. Vincent de Paul food cupboard. Last year they brought the truck out and we loaded it up the best we can.”
Food will be available for purchase and over 2,500 people are expected to attend.
