Power has been knocked out in Adams Township following a reported transformer explosion.
According to a call into the Butler County 911 Center shortly before 3 p.m. the explosion resulted in a pole on fire in the area of Route 228.
Power has been knocked out to many traffic lights and almost 1,500 residences in the area, according to West Penn Power.
Crews are working on getting generators up to power the traffic lights. It is not known at this time how long the outage is expected to last.
