The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Francisco Giants 8-5 last night to open a three-game series. The Pirates came back from a 2-0 deficit with a double and home run from Gregory Polanco who had four RBI’s in th game. Andrew McCutchen also drove in two runs and saved at least two runs with a diving catch in center field. Ryan Vogelsong picked up the win against his former teammates by pitching into the sixth inning.
The Pirates have now won 7 of their past 10 games, including three of four on the current west coast trip. They have moved to within a game of the National League Wild Card. The Bucs and Giants play again tonight at 10:15pm. Jameson Taillon will start for the Pirates. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 9:45pm.
Pitching prospect Tyler Glasnow had a rehab start for Double-A Altoona cut short Sunday after three innings. He was feeling the same arm tightness that sent him to the disabled list.
