The Butler County Housing and Redevelopment Authority is appealing a decision that would restore their former Executive Director to that position.
According to Authority solicitor Andrew Menchyk, Friday morning the Authority board voted to ratify an appeal of the state civil service commission decision to reinstate Perry O’Malley. The decision on the appeal from the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court is not expected for several months.
The board also passed a resolution to amend their bylaws that instructs the Executive Director of the Authority to report to the Chief Executive Officer. Edward Mauk is expected to continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer.
O’Malley was fired by the board in 2015 for allegedly neglecting the responsibilities of his position and abusing authority resources however the Civil Service Commission ruled last month that O’Malley should be reinstated from administrative leave.
