The identity of the woman who died after apparently shooting herself Tuesday on a sidewalk on Zelienople’s Main Street has been released.
35-year-old Elizabeth Adams of Portersville was shot in the head around noon Tuesday in front of Mathew Jewelers. This is an active investigation but looks like a suicide at this time.
Zelienople Police Chief Jim Miller told our newsroom, “What we’re investigating is a potential suicide. We haven’t talked with the coroner yet. He hasn’t had the ruling yet either. We can’t really officially say one way or the other right now.”
Motive for the shooting is still unknown at this time but there were witnesses police are speaking to.
“We have a couple. Apparently one was driving by and saw the event or part of it. We can’t really talk about it because it’s still part of the investigation. There’s some family members involved too,” Miller explained.
The Zelienople Police Department is handling the investigation. No one else was injured during this incident.
