Netflix film crews were in town Tuesday scouting out potential filming spots for their upcoming television show shoot.
Crews- along with Director David Fincher- will use Courtroom One inside the Butler County Courthouse and Diamond Park as backdrops during a shoot for the upcoming Netflix original series “Mindhunter.”
County Court Administrator Tom Holman says the crews loved the architecture and look of the courthouse and it “fit their needs” in terms of aesthetics.
“They loved it (the courthouse) and that’s why they’re here,” Holman said. “They are doing a courtroom scene that requires an older courtroom and ours fit the bill.”
The shoot will happen on Saturday, Aug. 20. The county commissioners gave it their approval during a meeting Wednesday.
Netflix will be responsible for any damages that occur during the shoot and the company will pay for overtime costs incurred with having extra maintenance crews and county officials on site that day. The county will not be paid to host the shoot.
“Mindhunter” is a television drama series slated to debut in 2017. It is based on a book of the same name and focuses on high-profile FBI Cases.
Director David Fincher has led movies including “Gone Girl” and “Fight Club” and fellow Netflix series “House of Cards.” Charlize Theron is also billed as one of the executive producers.
