The ‘Walldog’ mural event in downtown Butler was a ‘total success’ by organizer and Butler County Historical Society Director Pat Collins.
“Everything went as planned,” Collins said Monday morning. “There were no major problems.”
Collins did note that rain on Thursday and Saturday slowed things down a bit, but all 10 murals were able to be completely finished.
As far as if the artists, which came from several far-away countries including New Zealand, liked our city…?
“They loved it here,” she said. “They loved the people. They loved the architecture. Our residents were very thankful to the artists and showed them how appreciated they were.”
Collins noted Butler was different from where the Walldogs usually paint, laughing when remembering some artists being shocked by how many hills we have.
The murals are expected to last for up at least 15 years with not much up-keep. The wall owners and the historical society will monitor the artwork and quickly restore any chipped paint or other blemishes.
