The City of Butler has been chosen as a filming location for a big budget television show next month.
Producers of the Netflix-original show Mindhunter want to film a portion of an upcoming episode around the Butler County Courthouse at the end of August.
During filming, several city streets would be blocked including Jefferson and Wayne streets, as well as Washington Street to McKean Street. They also would like to use a combination of the Diamond Street lot, the McKean Street deck, and the Tier Garage for extras, crew and production vehicles.
Mindhunter is a television drama series slated to debut in 2017. It is based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. Charlize Theron is one of the executive producers.
Butler City Council is prepared to enter into an agreement to allow the filming.
