It may have taken an hour and 32 minutes before the final four outs of the game were recorded, but the Pirates waited out the rain delay and came away with a 5-4 yesterday afternoon at PNC Park.
Adam Frazier came off the bench in the 7th inning to hit a go-ahead solo home run, the first of his major league career.
Matt Joyce also provided power with a two run homer in the 6th inning, his 10th of the year.
Jameson Taillon was shaky at times but battled through six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits but striking out a career high seven.
Mark Melancon came in to pick up his 30th save of the season.
The Pirates (51-47) are off Monday and will continue their homestand tomorrow against the Seattle Mariners.
