More than 1,700 care-package stockings are set to be distributed to cancer patients across Butler and surrounding counties as part of the ‘Hang Tough’ stocking initiative.
Over a dozen volunteers organized the stockings yesterday at the Lyndora Volunteer Fire Hall and will continue to do so throughout the weekend.
Sharon Schneider is an organizer for the Hang Tough initiative and she credited all of those who stepped up for the worthy cause.
“It couldn’t be possible without the community,” Schneider said. “Without them stepping up and donating a stocking with love and care, and without all the elves volunteering their heart and soul, Hang Tough wouldn’t be possible.”
The stockings will be distributed beginning next Monday.
