A new law will permit hunting on certain Sundays following a signature by Governor Tom Wolf.
“There are people who are busy and can’t get out the first day of deer season, can’t get out to hunt on the days that we have right now and so this will expand and make hunting something that more people can do, make it more convenient.”
The law will allow hunting on three Sundays during the year—one during rifle season, one during archery, and a third Sunday would be determined by the state Game Commission.
According to the PA Game Commission, the new law will not actually take effect until February 25th.
An amendment to the bill requires all hunters on private land on Sundays to carry written permission from the landowner. Also, Game Commission officers now have the authority to investigate private land-trespassing complaints as well as enforce violations year-round as a primary offense.
