A local musician will host a benefit concert Wednesday to help support cleanup efforts in downtown Butler.
Drummer Tony Frochio, known to many as Washboard Tony, will play from 7 to 8 p.m. in Diamond Park.
Donations will support Operation Butler Pickup, which Frochio started as a way to give back to the community.
“We pick up garbage in different areas,” Frochio said. “This is a wonderful town. It just needs cleaned up a bit.”
Frochio is a cancer survivor. He is originally from Ellwood City but was brought to Butler for treatments.
“I now want to give back,” he said.
Tonight’s concert is appropriate for all ages. Offerings will be used to buy bags, gloves and brooms. The concert is rain or shine. If it rains, the event will be moved to the social hall of Grace at Calvary Lutheran Church.
If you’d like to help cleanup, a group has been meeting on Saturday mornings on Main Street.
