New reforms to Pennsylvania’s child abuse laws were officially signed into legislation this week.
Governor Tom Wolf signed the bill into legislation at Muhlenberg High School in Reading, which is the alma mater of State Representative Mark Rozzi. Rozzi is a survivor of clergy sex abuse.
The bills that were signed mirror the Grand Jury’s recommendations after its investigations into child sexual abuse by Catholic clergy.
“Every survivor that comes forward as a result of this legislation deserves our support,” Wolf said. “That’s why I’m pleased that Rep. Rozzi’s bill not only abolishes the criminal statute of limitations of childhood sexual abuse and it extends the timeline for survivors to seek civil action.”
