Slippery Rock University left tackle Chris Larsen has been named one of eight national finalists for the 2019 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award. Larsen, a senior from Erie, was the highest vote-getter among all offensive and defensive linemen in Super Region One. He becomes the seventh finalist for the Upshaw Award since its inception in 2004, and fifth finalist for The Rock since 2014. Defensive end Marcus Martin won the award two years ago, and offensive lineman Brandon Fusco won the award in 2010.
Slippery Rock will host Shepherd in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs Saturday at Mihalik-Thompspn Stadium. Kick-off is 1pm. Hear the game on The Rock Station 97.7.fm beginning at 12:30pm.
