A DUI Checkpoint in Mercer County over the holiday weekend resulted in a number of arrests.
State Police Troop D Mercer Barracks worked with the Sharon Police and the Mercer County Department of Public Safety to conduct the checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday, July 1st to 3 a.m. the next day. The checkpoint was held on the Shenango Valley Freeway north and south at Walnut Street in Sharon.
Out of 162 motorists stopped at that location during that time, nine were arrested for driving under the influence. Five motorists were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, one person was speeding, and one driving under suspension.
Additionally, 54 people were given written warnings, 18 other traffic citations were written, and one bench warrant was served.
