Slippery Rock University has amended the language of its smoking policy to better convey where smoking is allowed on campus and what will be done if you violate the rules.
The policy now states smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of any university facility, outdoor passageway to any entrance or any intake where smoke would affect occupants and those entering or leaving the area. You also can’t smoke in any university owned or operated building or facility, including outdoor academic spaces and athletic fields.
If an SRU employee or student violates the policy, they will be called to the Office of Human Resources of the Office of Student Conduct.
The smoking policy applies to all University employees, students, guests and contractors. The University cabinet voted Monday to pass the amended language.
