Butler County continues to maintain the lowest unemployment rate in the seven-county region.
According to the latest numbers released by the Department of Labor and Industry, Butler County’s jobless rate was 5.2 percent in May…that’s two-tenths of a point lower than it was in April (5.4 percent).
Local numbers from the seven-county region were on-average higher than the 5.5 percent rate for Pennsylvania and the national jobless rate at 4.7 percent.
The government defines unemployed people as those without jobs who are available for work and who make specific efforts to find employment.
