Allegheny Aquatic Alliance is planning its 5th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup.
This year’s effort will take place on August 27 and September 10 and focus on a 12-mile stretch from Harmony (in Butler County) to Fombell (in Beaver County).
Local residents Christina and Mike Handley formed Allegheny Aquatic Alliance back in 2012 to help clean-up the creek, which has been rated the second-most polluted waterway in America.
The group has successfully removed over 200,000 pounds of garbage, including 2,000 tires.
