No one was hurt when a driver accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake and nearly crashed into a busy restaurant Sunday morning.
The accident happened about 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning at the Eat ‘N Park on New Castle Road in Butler Township.
Police say 61-year-old Edward Sulkoske Jr. was attempting to park at the rear of the building when his foot slipped off of the brake and onto the gas pedal.
Sulkoske lost control of his vehicle, traveling out of the parking lot and down the side of the building through the landscaping and over the restaurant’s front sidewalk.
The vehicle continued through the guardrail along New Castle Road and through the intersection to the Point Plaza shopping center before finally stopping at a median.
Neither Sulkoske nor any pedestrians were hurt and no other vehicles were involved. A Butler Township police officer said it was a ‘miracle’ because the restaurant is notoriously busy on Sunday mornings.
Sulkoske was cited for careless driving.
