Governor Tom Wolf has signed a couple of bills sponsored by local lawmakers.
First, Wolf signed into law a measure sponsored by State Senator Scott Hutchinson that specifies new environmental regulations will only apply to Marcellus Shale drillers. Conventional oil and gas companies will have their activities regulated with the help of the new Penn Grade Crude Development Advisory Council.
Second, Wolf approved a bill introduced by State Senator Elder Vogel that eliminates the requirement of school districts to notify parents by mail when they use audio or video recording on buses for discipline. This law will allow schools to save thousands in mailing costs. Schools will now provide notice of the policy in their handbooks and on their websites.
