The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the San Francisco Giants 7-6 last night at PNC Park. The Pirates built a 6-1 lead through the first three innings thanks to home runs by Jon Jaso, Gregory Polanco and Jung Ho Kang. But, the Giants scored six runs in the middle three innings to take game three of the four-game series. Pirates starting pitcher Francisco Liriano allowed four earned runs in five innings of work. Reliever Jared Hughes allowed three earned runs in the sixth. The Bucs chased Giants starter Jeff Samardzija after three innings, but the Giants bullpen did not allow a run after that.
The teams play the final game of their series this afternoon at 12:35pm. The Los Angeles Dodgers come to PNC Park for three night games this weekend.
The Pirates are now 5-16 in the month of June.
