The money to be dispersed as part of this year’s Marcellus Shale Impact fees has been made public.
According to State Representative Tedd Nesbit and State Senator Scott Hutchinson, Butler County will collect nearly $2 million as a result of drilling fees.
In addition, local municipalities have also been awarded funds including nearly $214,000 to Butler Township, nearly $207,000 to Forward Township, over $181,000 to Connoquenessing Township, and over $168,000 to Cranberry Township.
Revenue from impact fees can be used to repair roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, as well as protect air and water resources, train first responders, and fund social services. A complete list of disbursements can be found on the PA Public Utility Commission’s website at puc.state.pa.us.
