Thursday marks the official start of the U.S. Open and with it, comes thousands of spectators, volunteers and lots of money into the region…including into Butler County.
President of the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau Jack Cohen says our county’s close proximity to the event in Allegheny County helps bring money and people in.
“It’s a huge impact,” Cohen said. “Most of our hotels are already sold out. Our restaurants, bars, stores and airport also stand to benefit. It’s a huge impact on our community.”
This is the ninth time the Oakmont Country Club has hosted the U.S. Open, which is more than any other course in the country.
