Moniteau softball made a statement on Thursday afternoon, rolling over WPIAL AA champion Ellwood City 11-0 to advance to the state semifinals. Kennedy DeMatteis was the driving force for Moniteau, going 3-4 at the plate with a 3-run home run, and on the mound throwing a complete game 1-hitter. Moniteau broke the game open in the top of the 4th inning by piling on 6 runs, and only needed to go six innings with the 10-run rule in effect. Moniteau put an end to Ellwood City’s undefeated season.
