The Butler Art Center is selling ‘We Made America Great’ t-shirts as a fundraiser for a show highlighting Butler’s scrap metal drive during World War II.
The drive was led by Armco Steel and the t-shirts feature a photo of five boys pulling a wagon of scrap metal they collected. Curators at the Butler Art Center say they have come across thousands of negatives that were being thrown away and many feature Butler residents coming together to collect scrap steel to be melted down for the military effort.
Money from t-shirt sales will help fund a photography show featuring those photos. Shirts are available to order through the end of the month. Details here.
