The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 last night at PNC Park. Jameson Taillon allowed a first inning two-run home run that gave the Brewers a lead they never relinquished. Taillon finished the night allowing all three runs on seven hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out seven. Brewers starter Freddy Peralta held the Bucs to two hits over his six innings of work. Starling Marte got the Pirates on the board with his ninth home run in the seventh inning.
The Pirates fell seven games behind the Brewers heading into the final game of their series tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Chad Kuhl will start for the Pirates.
The Cubs remain a 1/2-game behind Milwaukee after splitting a doubleheader with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Pirate pitcher Steven Brault sang the national anthem prior to the game last night.
Former Pirate infielder Pedro Alvarez has been designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles. Alvarez was batting .181 over 45 games this season.
